This 4 hour tour to Observation Point is a stunning trip that starts at the Rubicon Trail entrance on Lake Tahoe’s west shore that travels to over 6,700 feet overlooking the environmental study zone of Desolation Wilderness. When time permits this route includes visiting Ellis Lake and Peak, Richardson Lake, Ludlow Hut, and Miller Lake. The trail difficulty to Observation Point will vary with conditions, but you can definitely expect a very exciting and beautiful trip.
Trying to estimate the actual time it will take to complete the route is dependent on many factors that include challenges not within our control. With that said, we budget 4 hours of time for the experience – but with the constantly changing conditions we never know exactly what we are going to encounter.
